This term 4 primary schools in the STCM Sports Partnership visited Torquay United Indoor Bowling Centre for Bowling taster sessions. On arrival at the centre students were impressed with the facilities and wowed by the fact that no less than five Great Britain bowlers are currently associated with the club.
Students were straight into action being taught the basics of how to achieve a smooth release and focus on the line and length. We soon realised it was more technical than we ever imagined! After several practice ends, once everyone had got to grips with the basics, things became competitive with teams being formed and taking each other on. For the vast majority of children involved it was their first ever experience of Bowls and many left the sessions keen to get more involved in the sport.
