Students in year 7 were lucky enough to take part in ‘Space to Learn Masterclass’ led by Dorian Pascoe from the National Space Academy.
The aim of the masterclass was to engage the students in learning key physics, and space science concepts through the real-world context of NASA’s Artemis missions.
During the classes, students explored the physics of rockets and propulsion, helping the them to understand how spacecraft launch and travel through space.
They also investigated survival challenges in space such as the impact of low pressure on the human body and highlighting the biological and engineering problems astronauts can face.
The students were fantastic and especially enjoyed making and launching their own rockets! Warning: don’t try this at home!
Well done to all students involved and a huge thank you to Dorian for his enthusiasm and for answering the many questions students had!
