Our very own Mr Waterworth has been shortlisted in the Music Inspiration category at the Music & Drama Education Awards 2026!
These awards celebrate the incredible impact that professionals, schools, and organisations have on lives through the power of music and drama, and we couldn’t be prouder to see Mr Waterworth recognised for his passion and dedication. He inspires and uplifts through the magic of the performing arts!
“It is quite humbling and a huge honour to be a finalist in the Music Inspiration category held by the Drama and Music Education Awards. It hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but the fact that these awards exist is evidence of the importance of the arts and creativity in the wider community. We have achieved so much in just over the two years that I have been at St. Cuthbert Mayne: Matilda, Shine performances, Beauty and the Beast Jr, the south west School premiere of ‘Frozen – the West End musical’, achieving Lead Music Schools – the only secondary school in Torbay to achieve this’, and workshops at local Primary Schools. We have also increased the participation in the Services including our Golden Anniversary of our School. This year, we already have planned a Christmas Cabaret, a Devon Music Education Hub concert at the Riviera Centre, ‘Into the Woods’
St. Cuthbert Mayne, personally, for me was the right place at the right time. The students are fantastic; the staff are supportive and the school feels like a community. Finally, I want to thank all of the parents, students and the school for nominating me for this award. I’m afraid they’re all stuck with me for many years to come!”
Join us in cheering him on and wish him luck for the award ceremony in February! Thank you to Mr Waterworth for as he continues to inspire and uplift through the performing arts!
