Health and social care encompasses all hospital activities, medical nursing homes and GP services.
The social care sector includes residential nursing care, residential nursing facilities, residential care facilities, domiciliary care and social work. There are more than three hundred distinct career paths in this sector, and it is a major employer, employing almost
4 million people across the UK. Our course is designed to support your progression into higher apprenticeships and higher education.
Students will study 6 mandatory units and 2 optional units:
Unit 1: Human Lifespan Development Unit 2: Working in Health & Social Care Unit 4: Enquiries into Current Research in Health & Social Care
Unit 5: Meeting Individual care & Support Needs
Unit 7: Principles of Safe Practice in Health & Social Care
Unit 8: Promoting Public Health
Optional:
Unit 6: Work Experience
Unit 10: Sociological perspectives
Unit 12: Supporting Individuals & Additional needs
Unit 19: Nutritional Health
ASSESSMENT:
Units 1 and 2 are externally assessed through a written exam which is 90 minutes.
Unit 4 is a task set and marked directly by the exam board and carried out under exam conditions.
The other units are assessed by the teacher and moderated by the exam Board.
THIS COURSE IS EQUIVALENT TO 2 x A LEVELS
This Course can be taken as part of several of our pre-designed Career Pathways.
