BTEC – Pearson Level 3 Extended Certificate in Music Performance

This course is suitable for all instrumentalists or vocalists who have some proficiency and a passion to develop as a performer.

The course broadens experience and skills in ensemble performance and you will be required to perform in public on a regular basis throughout the course.

You will perform a variety of genres covering popular music from the 1950s to the modern day. The course also includes training in listening, critical review and composition.

The music industry is vast and diverse. It offers a huge amount of employment options to suit just about anyone looking to work in this area! Our course will provide you with the skills to progress into higher education and into the industry. There will extra-curricular opportunities such as our School Productions to enrich your studies.

If you didn’t take Music at GCSE, you must complete an audition in order to study this at A Level.

Year 12:
• Solo Performance Practice (Internally Assessed)
• Practical Music theory and Harmony (Internally Assessed)

Year 13:
• Ensemble Music Performance (Internally Assessed)
• Professional Practice in the Music Industry (Externally Assessed)
